Note in the Pocket. When a school or social service agency referral partner identifies a child experiencing clothing insecurity living in poverty, they send a request for the sizes and type of clothing needed, as well as needs of members of the child’s immediate family. Each mini-wardrobe includes two weeks’ worth of outfits in their specific sizes. This includes new socks and underwear, shoes, a variety of tops and bottoms to mix, match, and layer, and any outerwear appropriate to the season. This group also advocates for single parents with legislative lobbying, national conferences and community service.
Single Parent Alliance of America. By joining the SPAOA, members have access to help through government grants, grants for education, a pharmacy discount card and information about discount shopping.
CoAbode. CoAbode provides single mothers with house sharing opportunities, specialized support groups, affordable housing, and vital resources designed to make parenting alone easier, healthier and more secure.
